What We Do

The doors open at 11am and everyone gets a tea or coffee as they show up. The first hour is all about getting set up and greetings. By midday we are all set to give our members a locally sourced, nutritionally balanced hot meal. It's two courses, a main and a pudding, with options for people having special dietry needs. Each week in the afternoons around 2pm we have an activity designed to stimulate, which may include a band playing, speakers on all sorts of subjects, choirs, games, auctions and more. After that of course it's time for tea and cake. Then to round things off we have a fun raffle.

The Honeypot exists to provide more than just a hot meal and a safe environment. We have a strong focus on fun and encouraging involvement at all levels. Members quickly become part of the group and soon look forward to doing their part of what we do. It may be laying out cutlery as we set up, sitting on our committee and helping to run the group or just sharing a joke with the volunteer helpers. By the way we always need more volunteer helpers!

The key emphasis is that Honeypot is a day out, a day away from the isolation and loneliness that some people feel. It’s a day for having a laugh, seeing people you can share memories or stories with. A day for participating in and feeling a part of something. It’s a day for having a damn good meal and maybe a doggie bag too. Tea and cake in the afternoon and all for less than ten quid. That covers transport too.

Many of the people we are set up for have no means of transport so we use the Trowbridge Guild bus and even have a roster of volunteer drivers for people that cannot use the bus. Of course some do drive and that's cool too.

The doors close at 4pm.
