Once again we have entered a Christmas tree to participate in the annual St James Church Christmas Tree Festival. Organisations from all over Trowbridge are invited to take part and so we are proud to be included. People from all over the area come during the first week of December to view the trees, each of which depict in some way the organisation displaying them.
Our tree includes the colours you might think of with bees in association with a honeypot. The little bees hung on the tree were created by some of our volunteers and generously donated. But even better for us the main baubles and hanging decorations were all created by St John's Honeypot members during craft sessions run in November by Alison. The design of the craft and all the parts were all provided by Alison as was the guidance on what to do.
Our members really enjoyed creating the decorations for the tree and take great pride, not to mention joy, in knowing that they will be seen by many people wandering around the trees.
Typically our members experience a life of solitude and social indifference, so to have thirty plus people eagerly working together and discussing what they will do and how is a great thing. Not only does making these simple crafts invigorate them and stimulate their creative juices it also forces them to interact socially in a positive and friendly environment. It's no wonder that they love it.
The decorations on our tree may not be perfect in creation but they were made in joy and reflect the joy we strive to share every Monday to all our members and helpers.
